New Groups at MOTI!!
New Saturday Group -- We have started a couple of new groups here at MOTI. On Saturday mornings we will have an additional Group Run meeting at the shop at 9 am. This group is for anyone who wants an additional group run during the week or anyone who cannot make it to the Wednesday Night group. We will always have staff and/or a local running coach on hand to answer questions as well. The Wednesday Group will also continue as normal.
Walk Back to Fitness -- We recognize that not everyone wants to, or can run and this new group is aimed at everyone that wants to get back to fitness but needs to start slowly. It will be especially geared towards anyone that has not undertaken much physical activity or is not sure where to start. This group will meet at the shop on Thursdays at 10 am and each session will last approximately one hour.

You do not have to be kitted out with the latest gear, however weather-appropriate clothing is encouraged. A comfortable properly fitted pair of shoes is the best place to start as many people get discouraged or even injured if they have inappropriate shoes for sport or activity. The idea with the walking group is to start slowly.

Getting the right shoes is essential to avoid injury and enjoy your running more. Some people keep their shoes way too long. People sometimes feel that their old shoes are 'broken in' and they don't want to change them, however the average pair of shoes lasts about 400-600 miles. After that time, your shoes simply don't have the cushion they once did.
Another pitfall to avoid is wearing the wrong size shoes. As minor as it sounds, a lot of people start running and never get fitted for a pair of shoes. They often wear them too small. The mechanics of running is different to walking and your feet tend to expand when you run. Wearing the right size shoes will increase your enjoyment of the sport.
One of the most important things to consider when getting a new pair of trainers is what type of shoe you're wearing. These days running shoes come in varying degrees of support and cushioning. Some people need what is classed as 'neutral' shoes while others over-pronate or supinate. Depending on how you run, each person will require a different type of shoe. Oftentimes the different types of shoes are similar in price, but people buy the wrong ones and then end up having problems. If you're unsure what type of runner you are, we do a free Video Gait Analysis in the shop and all of our staff can advise you on what type of shoe is right for you. If you have any further questions, contact us or pop into the shop and we'll be happy to answer them for you. Cheers, daniel

I can run 2 miles non-stop at the moment in about 20 minutes. Would the Saturday run help me at this stage? I can run 5k but want to train for a 10k.
