Saturday cross country running
Meet and register at Moti.
All runs will start from Moti at 9am.
All runs will incorporate a dynamic warm-up en-route to the suspension
bridge (approx 1 mile).
From there, undulating routes will vary each week, either heading for
Ashton Court, Failand, Abbots Leigh or Leigh Woods and the tow path.
As we progress into the spring, runs will go extend towards Long Ashton,
Tyntesfield and Pill.
I could go into more detail but probably best to keep the detail to a
minimum to give me flexibility on the day according to weather
conditions etc. - see below, I think I have my grid references correct!
These runs are registering on my garmin front door to front door as
about 7, 8 or 9 miles, but 1.5 of those miles are to/from the suspension
bridge. I can shorten the routes by a mile if you think this too much
for them for now.
March 6th, 13th (5-6 miles)
From the Suspension Bridge we will enter Ashton Court (558727)
and follow the Timberland Trail to the right, hugging the perimeter of
the estate.
At the hole in the wall (545725), cross the road and run down
the stony track to Abbots Pool (536733).
Turn left to cottage (525732) and up stony track to orchard
(535727) then:
6th:- turn left along road and then pick up stony track (538729)
to return up to hole in wall (545725) and back to Ashton Court entrance
(558727)
13th:- up steep road, across main road, past Old Bristolians, to
pick up the cinder track in Ashton Court (536715) and fast downhill
track to Ashton Court entrance (558727)
March 20th (6 miles)
From the Suspension Bridge turn right and run to Leigh Woods
(approx 555730), down trails to tow path then up trails to return (eg
Grotto, Paradise Bottom and Nightingale valley).
March 27th (7 miles)
From the Suspension Bridge we will enter Ashton Court (558727)
and follow the Timberland Trail to the right, hugging the perimeter of
the estate.
At the hole in the wall (545725), cross the road and run down
the stony track to Abbots Pool (536733).
Turn right along road, right then left to George inn public
house (543738), cross main road, then turn left beyond Leigh Court
(opposite Clifton College Sports ground).
Through Leigh Woods down to tow path and back up trails to
return to Suspension Bridge.
