Hi guy's
I am looking to put a 3 person team together for the Eagle ultra in September. Its 120 k over 3 days the cost is £190 + getting there and back. The race is self sufficient. so if you our looking to do an ultra this year this might tick all the boxes. It will mean training together and some very long runs with race packs. I have done 2 other ultras so hope for the best plan for the worst.
Please read below for a low down.
The Route
Eagle Isle Ultra will feature some of the most adventurous and remote terrain the UK has to offer. Racing between the historic Duart castle and the village of Tobermory participants will take in mountain and hillside, lochside, mountain passes, track, forest and scenic roadways and much much more.
During the early stages of the event the views reach to mainland Argyll, a view which is magnified as the nearby mountains are ascended on our ‘short’ first day. Following a night spent by the shore near the village of Salen we will begin day two with a long haul across mountain pass and lochside track into the mountainous interior of the island. Following a crossing of Mull’s ‘wilderness’ area we will descend and finish along one of the country’s most scenic single track roads on the shores of Loch Na Keal. Day three features a very different type of route with the bulk being spent in the forests to the north of the island before our finish in the beautiful village of Tobermory.
Mull is sparsely populated and consequently extremely rich in wildlife. Herds of deer and goats roam freely and otters and mountain hares are regularly seen around the coastline and hillside. Overhead, golden eagles and the extremely rare White Taled Sea Eagle are frequently seen soaring in hunt of prey while out to sea whales of all descriptions and basking sharks can be seen on a clear, calm day.
hope to here from you soon
