Hi In the summer of 2010 myself (Giles) and two of my mates Martin and Bryan will be running the Corsica GR20. This is a 180km route streching from the North to the South of the island. The route is billed as being one of the toughest hiking routes in europe and we will hoping to run it in around 9 days (normally takes 12 to 15 days). We are doing this for two reasons. Firstly all three of us are slightly mad and fancied a challenge. Secondly we are going to be raising money for Help for Heros. We will be running self-sufficient for the entire run. The bags will be weighing in at around 10 to 11 kg's with food, cooking equipment, water, bivibags sleeping bags and spare kit. Some of us have walked the route before and agree that it was nails to walk so running the GR20 should be no easy task. www.ultragr2wenty.com

You guys have my sympathy and prayers. Remember the Long Distance Athletes mantra. Never stop. But, if you feel that you are special and have to ignore that sound piece of advice, then keep moving....... FORWARD. Not sideways or backwards.....but forward... As long as you keep moving forward everything will be ok.
Jokes aside. Well done for attempting this and remember to enjoy most of it. Have a good trip and come back safely.
